Maintenance: Keeping working devices in good working order while still working...
Repair: Fixing the non working device after failure when desperately needed.
Planning: Knowing when to do needed maintenance. A rare trait of few people.

To hot for me to be jealous... But thus is what I met when I walked out this morning... It looked like Elk Mtn. Out my front door... Very high winds, blowing and drifting snow, temps in the low teens, and icy drifted roads.

Headed into work I saw 2 big trucks inbthe ditch... One was a car hauler off in the median of I-15 about 2 miles from my house, he was WAY down in a deep spot too, but at least he kept the wheels on the ground. The other was a van of some type of the shoulder but it was too dark to tell what company.

The big drift is off camera behind my pickup... It was 3 feet deep and over 10 feet long... There was zero snow when I went to bed.

And you did express all these requirements during the hiring interview? Asking for a friend...

Been sitting in the office in Dallas since 1pm. Waiting to see if im going to Houston in the AM and then run an oversize load out to W TX on Thurs or if Im loading in Witchita Falls and going to OKC

Listening to other drivers and my Dallas dispatcher is pretty entertaining as well.

Didn’t have to. Dave came right out and told me exactly what the truck would be like. It was way better than I expected or frankly deserved. Dave is adamant about the Cascadia’s because of his experience with them and the man who he has wrench on them. Then a couple weeks before my eligibility to work for Dave at Landstar closed in he called and went over the specs again and confirmed I wanted a white one. Couple hours after that he sent me the invoice...he bought the truck.

In business I call it the sniff test. It’s a cursory look. It stops me in my tracks most times. Dave is one of the few people in my business life that is just a straight shooter. Good or bad Dave’s going to call you and say it straight to your face. Well buying the truck and sending me the invoice is straight up baller. It’s like he was saying “I did my #### I said I do, you’d better be ready to run like I think you can.”

Tell your friend this is big boy trucking, and he’d better be ready. There’s not a lot of do-overs in this.
