    Sorry for situation with your Dad. I can equate, had a light one and still have residual effect from it. NG is a good choice as no bother on any storage/refills.
    Friend here has a similar, say the bulbs just start to dim and it is on. Also it is programmed to crank and gen a while every so often to keep in readiness.
