Yep.....and if I get a little sleepy during the day, pull over and get a nap. Can't do that in the corporate world.

Typically, I'm up at 4 or 5 depending on what I have to do that day and what city I have to drive through and what time I want to do it. Next week I know I'll be up at 4 on Tuesday to get through Nashville and again on Wednesday to get through Atlanta.
Makes it a lot easier to find a place to park at 4 or 5 in the afternoon as well.
A smart man learns quickly that there are 24 nearly identical hours in a day in OTR trucking. Pick which ones make life easier.

Today I woke up when I felt like.... :biggrin_25519: would like to do that enough till I got rid of the dark spots under my eyes.... those make me look older....
11 yrs of OTR trucking accelerated my aging process... I bet that a lot of my memory problems have to do with screwing up with my biological clock... spending nights and nights driving and not sleeping much during the day either....

    Natural bio cycle and motivation....

On a 34 I was not sleeping stressed, just go to sleep and wake up without the clock stressing you.

For a ten I ended up stressing about going to sleep which I know keeps me from getting truly rested. Then the alarm goes off after I've only been half asleep for half my bunk time.

Then there;s the motivation side of things. I was much more motivated to roll out and grab a real breakfast (probably the only one for the week). Then to get my money maker in the seat and drive though some metro area.

Should we tie these boats together and start up a party flotilla.....

That's one thing I really liked about the job I just left. The O/O didn't like driving at 4-5am. Encouraged me to go ahead and at least take a nap at that time. We ran paper logs.

About my above posting... I understand it was my decision to drive like a mad dog for nights and days for years and years.... and now I will have to change that if I want to preserve my health...
Today I got an email from my former company's Director of Dispatching and Operations.. he wants to know how I am doing.. I haven't sent them anything in over a month.... They absolutely LOVED the way I used to run... but if I go back to them, I will let them know first that I will not run the same way any more... even though I would like to... I wonder if they will still want me... Well.. they have drivers who don't run hard at all... they are about to retire....

That's one thing I'm liking about this new job. From a guy who has run it. Said you just push to make the deliveries. They're always fast to take care of you first in delivering. None of this typical OTR waiting time. Then you have all the time in the world to get back to the terminal. OH... and the pickup is usually a drop and hook.
Don't think the clock is going to be a big worry to run against.

FlaSwampRat, Rocks and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Is that OTR or dedicated...? You say, "going back to the terminal..." and "drop n hooks" Maybe I don't know much.. but it sounds more like dedicated runs...

InTooDeep, D.Tibbitt and WesternPlains Thank this.
