I dont recognize your name so I assume you are new here. If you go back and read through this entire thread you will see 4+ years of my adventures traversing the wind and snow swept state of Wyoming... Ive seen first hand the devastation WY can unleash... And ive learned how to handle and/or avoid such. I think most in this thread would agree that I'm a WY veteran. Crossed it twice a week, every week, all year round for 4+ years... Just to a bit of a vacation from the road for awhile, now getting back into it again.

Yes Laramie to Rawlins can get nasty... But Fort Collins to a ways north of Cheyenne is worse. Amd WY doesnt define what a "light vehicle is"... So if that closure is posted and you get blown over... It dont matter if your grossing 106k, you will be fined tremendously for not obeyimg the closure. In fact Just earlier today a good trucking friend of mine called me for advise on navigating WY in the wind... He was looking at 55+ mph sustained winds all the way from Warren Rd to Sinclair.... That means gusts could be pushing 70+ mph. Needless to say I advised that he park it and wait out the wind, despite the fact that he was nearly grossed out.

Glad I boogied out of that country last night... I was there 4 or 5 years ago when they were experiencing 75+ mph straight line winds... I sheltered the truck in a dirt lot beside a small warehouse right next to I80 in LaSalle. Used the large off ramp as a wind break... Got to witness a large tranformer explode about 300 yards from where I was parked.

The safety man for the company had half the fleet calling me for advise on whether or not to keep movimg or park after that.

Not new, been posting on TTR for years. Not much in this forum though. Wyoming DOT will have the overhead signs advising of the closure to the particular GVWR of vehicles due to the extremely high winds.

My 1 and only chargeable was about 10 miles west of Rawlins. Wind blew the tractor around and I jack knifed her while I was going down the road and ended up in the median, but she stayed upright. We were lined up about 100 feet apart (because thats all the further we could see) about 30-35mph. They called it chargeable "because I shouldnt have been out there". I had no idea a blizzard was coming. Company was too cheap to give me an AM/FM radio and had no idea a blizzard was coming until the guys started talking about it on the CB. Couldnt find a safe place to get off. Was going to get off when I got to Rawlins come hell or high water if I had to park in the street.

    This was Feb 86.

Ive come off elk through that same area more than once when a blizzard caught me by surprise... It can be pretty intimidating... Saturday night I parked it ontop elk mountain becaise it was snowing so hard you could barely see the road... Let alone 50 feet ahead of you, that's the only time ive not made it clear over the top to either Laramie or Rawlins.

    Request..
You get a chance, and still pulling that (non pot) trailer of the guy you are hauling for...
Empty; standing on the dock. snap a pic straight in of each deck level.
    Reason..
There is probably guys on here who have never seen the inside of a level floor /double decked cattle trailer.
    No rush...
