Pocket book economics did for me what the Surgeon General could never accomplish, quit smoking Tampa Nugget cigars. Used to buy a box of 50 in Starkville for $5.00, run Miami and back, all gone. Smoke and chew on one till fire met water, toss. (1956)

Smoked a pipe in the Army; as cigarettes' at $.90 a carton exchanged to my PI rent house value of P18.00 (pesos). A pound can of "Bond Street" and a package of "Rum and Maple"; shook up mixed in a grocery sack to blend, is one of the best pipe smokes you will ever inhale

Time passed and I bought a couple at a restaurant one night. A good cigar after a good dinner.
[John Ruskin said: "A woman is but a woman, but a good cigar is a smoke."]

Dropped in a tobacco store and they had in 5 packs, $5.00 bought ? of these and realized. Ish, you could roll up a $1.00 bill, light it and be about the same. So I quit.
Still love the "whiff" of the wait crowd smiling outside a steakhouse as I leave...

In 53, just out of high school, Camels were a quarter a pack. Machine has a sticker of some age required afore pulling a pacl.
Not too long, met a gal who smoked Pall Mall's . Simple, I switched. They were higher, .35.

Strange, prices on all reg brands went from a quarter to $.35. Counter price .35, machine .25, cause it couldn't handle the dime. But technology caught up and
any brand could be any beer joints price. I well remember buying a can of Schlitz for .35 and a pack for .35. Then Schlitz came out with t a l l can, at .50.
Prices were terrible in that erc...

Used to do it in the western territories as settler crossed the plains with no trees. If the electric fails and no charcoal on hand,,, Dave will have to scout the horse farms. HS should have the same thermal output as CS, assuming equal quantities.
