One of my Grandfathers getting into the greats about 1840 census showed his age to be around 52 and he had by marriage a 35 year old. That would be one of my great grandmothers direct by blood. I don't know too much about society in the 1840's Federal Period Era but 52 and 35 would have been quite the scandal Looking at about 7 children in that census. One of he reasons were a large family. My other grandmother out of Somerset when she was born (Maryland eastern shore) would be the last of 15 babies born with three stillborn thats just was something else.

I'll get some chores out of the way and revisit these topics later on.

Yes Mr. @x1Heavy ... my great grandmother was an Indian (native Brazilian) and I was told she was "caught" by a man on a horse with a rope on the field... and had a big family with him... This was somewhere in the country, rural area in Brasil... My grandmother married when she was still 8 yrs old... That is what my mom told me as I saw my grandmother for only a few days in my life...
Mom told me that girls used to marry while still children... marriage arranged by their parents so that they would leave the family cause it was very difficult for them to raise so many kids back in time when families had more than 10 kids and being poor....

Several retired Air Force guys in my neighborhood have young Pinoy wives. I'm former Navy and think I'm the only one with a Chinese wife; at least in this neighborhood. Las Vegas is an Air Force town with Nellis Air Force Base.

Agreed. I met my wife when I was still in a package car at UPS, she worked on my route.

I hear you... and I see most people that keep getting into the same failing marriages for the same reason must have some relationship problems themselves.... Some can be lucky and find their "solution" doing like Mr. @Chinatown wrote... "the mail order bride".... But that may end up in even another frustration and much worse for both people.... :biggrin_2552:

Not saying that marrying someone from another country is a mistake... if both people have enough time to date each other, visit each other's country, meet with their families for a while and have enough experience with each other in both countries to make sure (if possible) that marriage will work for both of them...
