When I say Brasil is synonym of incompetence I am not joking....
Last Thursday an overpass under construction collapsed on top of vehicles in a super busy highway in São Paulo.
It caused miles and miles of traffic jam for 7 hrs on a super busy highway during rush hr...
There will be investigations that might take months... and as usual nobody is going to pay to the victims, etc..
A few days ago, a marquise collapsed somewhere else... can't remember... so many of these things happen nowadays in Brasil that I can't keep count of it any more...
Bridges, buildings, roads.. no maintenance, not following codes.... poor engineering... and there you go...
BTW... the internet here sucks right now cause of the strong winds... I am late... gotta go.. be back latter...
What if it Snows?

NTSB blames FIGG, says oversight could have prevented Miami bridge collapse
and, apparently, they suck at math
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) determines that the probable cause of the Florida International University (FIU) pedestrian bridge collapse was the load and capacity calculation errors made by FIGG Bridge Engineers, Inc.D.Tibbitt, Rocks, WesternPlains and 4 others Thank this. -

A few years ago my trainee was trip planning the next load while I was driving. I had a quick look at the load before we pulled out and had roughed out my own trip plan mentally.
After a bit he gives me the answer - delivery right on the appointment time, but available with 7 less hours on the 11 and 14 than I had been thinking. The difference? He planned to stop early in St Louis to see the arch on our ten, then start at midnight, drive 350 miles plus a full dot pretrip and a fuel stop and make a 0700 appointment with a customer note of "if you are more than 15 minutes late the appointment must be rescheduled ".
There may be times when sight seeing is possible, but if decide to go otr with the voal of seeing the sights while still earning a full time income you will be sorely disappointed.D.Tibbitt, WesternPlains, thelushlarry and 3 others Thank this. -
