Y'all ever have (or hear of) an outside unit's breaker tripping. Reset and soon trip again. Examine and find the contacts with well done pissants.
Kill the main, clean up the contacts, all well. A unit on one house I owned did this two year running. Seem some ozone attracts in hot dry days.

 

Tip.. Most A/C ops offer a checkup during the spring. I found the offer to be cheaper than a service call over in August (while wiping sweat).
If some part is weak, it don't get well with temp increase. Ole forklift expression.. Well Mr. Owner, they don't get well by themselves.
