I've decided that the reason this cabinet was black is , they may had gotten it unfinished , maybe cheaper , had a can of black paint sitting there and that's what it got. Sounds plausible to me.

My wife has medical alert, she got it after a friend of ours got one, she was 90 something (friend not my wife) friend was very independent, wasn't supposed to be driving and had a hidden key that she used to drive herself, unfortunately, but at time same time fortunately she had that life alert thing, first night she had it she accidentally (I'm not sure that's true) and when the paramedics showed up says oh yeah, I need some help with my groceries. They helped, her daughter said they have never gotten a bill.
