It's like 0100 or so. He's wearing like a red chemical suit, and I'm pretty sure he was chemically enhanced.
He stumbling down the road in a construction zone.
He's like 6 or 8 feet away from the road, then starts cross stepping right to the road as I'm going by him. Missed him by inches. I was doing about 40ish.
If he wouldn't have stopped, he'd been meat muffled in the drives.Cattleman84, FlaSwampRat, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this. -

On the white line just a foot from my steer right was a 4 door. with left rear flat. Man was on his knees working the nuts. He hears me coming. Jacobs and all howling in his ear out of the rainstorm with two lanes worth of line with me. All of us adding horsies for the upgrade in a hundred yards.
I finished the shift and applied power and he stood up, realized he has no place to go and flipped around to place his back against the car and tried to become one with it like a starfish spreading into the paint. If that makes sense.
I eased the wheel over about 6 inches to the left all I could get out of my space next to a tanker slowly gaining horsies passing me and due to the curve, centrifugal force was shoving him against me a little bit. I left him two inches trusting he wont do anything stupid.
Missed the man by nothing at all. Maybe the fender round mirror slapped him. Maybe. Rest of it was buried in rain and spray. 10 more trucks behind me passed him also. Finally radio lit up and stated that he appeared to have fainted. One of us had a cell and went ahead to call out the EMT and Lawman to help him as we rolled upgrade at 80 and pulling power waiting to downshift.
The next batch 4 miles behind us did talk about the man on the ground but we did never find out how it worked out. One of those mysteries.
I know one thing. That poor man is going to have nightmares for months if not years. There was very little room to miss him with. Essentially none at all. I was wondering what would have to be done if my drives touched that tanker's drives next to me. I was hoping maybe the contact would be very close to zero relative speed, but that's wishful thinking. Just happy I did not have to find out. It would have flipped one of us at least. And him being a tanker.. I consider that all of our birthdays.
I like to think if you own a ordinary car, make sure your #### is in good quality. being trapped int he rain to a flat like that is just too lethal of a problem in a night like that. Just so you can save 15 dollars or whatever.RidgeRunner731, austinmike, WesternPlains and 2 others Thank this. -
I guessing not real heavy since you're loaded front to back and only 1 strap per bundle.WesternPlains Thanks this.
