What if it Snows?

Dispatcher wont answer call or return text. I stayed up and waited til 8am to make contact. Im now missing a funeral I was supposed to be at for my wife and missing out on a paying load.

No one here so #### 'em Im going home. Im about done looking like an ####### to my family because of my job.

 

Last I heard, Dave was looking for a driver. Either way, the only way to win in this game is to have your own truck. Its been over 6 years since I've had to ask permission to go home or wait for some jackaz to assign a load to me.

My company is non Force dispatch even for company drivers, which is good. They don't expect me to sit around for 2 days and wait they know I'll go home. But it's the fact that this shipper screwed up and then there's no one around for me to try to remedy the situation. I went above and beyond to stay up there to see what I can get done this morning. What pisses me off just as much, is that it cost me hundreds of dollars to deadhead cost the company hundreds of dollars for me to deadhead and the receiver doesn't get their load come Monday morning.

As much as I hate it, when I work for a company I'm a company guy. I put the company first I put the work first and I do what's needed to get the job done.

I probably take stuff like this more personally than I should, and I keep asking myself what did I do wrong that could have prevented this. I could have stayed and live loaded my trailer, I could have went back later in the day to get the trailer instead of waiting till 1 a.m. but at the same time I shouldn't have to second-guess everyone else's actions and hand-hold.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, it's done and over with so I'm just going to go home and not worry about it. Come Monday when they call me maybe I'll answer the phone maybe I won't, maybe I'll just stay home until January.

 

True, springtime and summer are just 4 months away!
Still have a good chance that it will snow between now and then
