Meh.
Everyone wants the magic potion and people are happy to provide them with snake oil.
Q: Why are companies failing?
A: They aren't working hard enough, and they're stupid with their money.
Q: Why are those guys succeeding?
A: They work their butts off, and they're frugal with the money.
Rocket F science.
What if it Snows?

Banks DO NOT recognize per diem. Which means credit card companies don't either.
You cut the drivers rate per mile, charge him a fee on top of it, then tell him it's a good thing.
His SS is going to be less.
His Unemployment would be less.
Why would a company driver need a lower yearly wage to save money on health insurance that should be provided by the company?
The employer saves 7.5% on the 8 or 10 cents you F him out of.
7.5 x $40,000.00 year = $3,000.00 the employer saves per driver.

So how it was explained to me is what Dave said. It benefits the co but cuts into the drivers base pay. To me, per diem should always be above and beyond the base pay, because its basically an extra pay allowance for travel and/or travel expenses.

If forced per diem didn't benefit the company, they wouldn't do it.

Yeah per diem is a load of BS... Why in the world would anyone want to take a 3% to 10% cut in basepay to get per deim???
As a W2 employee there is no reason you shouldn't be getting a tax return instead of a tax bill, if you fill out your W4 correctly.
And as @Dave_in_AZ said... By lowering my base pay I also loose out on FREE money contributed to my 401k by the company, SS contributions are less, unemployment will be less, and banks would frown even harder when I ask them to finance something for me.
F that F'n BS, and the F'n horse the F'er rode in on!!!!!!!!!
Yeah that how I really feel about it.Last edited: Dec 23, 2019

So I managed to dodge all the scales from Eastern KY to Central NE... I was prepaired to dodge the North Platte scale but I had burned enough fuel I was confident I was of a legal weight. The scale was open and pulling EVERYONE in... I was given the green light off the scale.
I then got 40 gallons of fuel in N Platte. Most of which I burned off before the Cheyenne scale, which was doing the same as the N Platte scale. I got the bypass lane. Then I got 55 gallons of fuel in Cheyenne, which I will burn off by time I get to the UT scale in the morning.
Unload tomorrow in SLC and then head to the barn for Christmas at home with my wife and kids!!!austinmike, InTooDeep, Rocks and 8 others Thank this.
