We're at 65 and sunny in South Ga.
Did the Christmas thing at my son's house yesterday, back at the house now.
We're done. (Except for the Christmas hanky pankey later).Rocks, InTooDeep, FlaSwampRat and 4 others Thank this. -
Got my load sitting at FlyingJ. Got home a little before 5 this morning.
Was nutty last night. Nobody in the office. 5 drivers hanging out in the break room. I went in and asked for help. Office knew I was coming in for a load at 9pm. What did these guys do? We broke into the office and "stole" the paperwork.
Was running real tired last night. Some wet frozen roads. Ice fog. Ran slow and careful. Slept for an hour at 1:30am. I made it ok. Last 18 miles I had to go to PC. Claimed PC Safe Haven to Home.
Great company. They not only got me home for Christmas. They got me home twice for Christmas!

No one I know has a thermoking account, but if you get your apu model #, they'll get you what you need. Get a new...injector...I cant think of the actual name of it, with the gaskets and along with the fuel pump you'll have pretty much rebuilt your bunk heater.
Also look into converting it to run in kerosene. Burns cleaner and causes less issuesFlaSwampRat and WesternPlains Thank this. -
How does kerosene hold up in the winter?Dave_in_AZ, FlaSwampRat and WesternPlains Thank this.
-
Kerosene is basically #1 diesel fuel so it holds up great.Rocks, FlaSwampRat, WesternPlains and 1 other person Thank this.

To be honest, I dont know. As a kid, thats what was used for the shop heaters and other stuff around my stepdads shop in IL.
Everything I read when diagnosing a bunk heater in an old truck, said kerosene was the way to go because iirc it doesn't have any ethanol in it. It doesnt gum up the injector or fuel pump when not in operation.FlaSwampRat, WesternPlains and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
I have espar bunk heater. Fuel pump is like 200 online. How would i convert it to run kerosense. It runs off diesel tanks so i would have to run my truck off kerosense and they say it not good for new emissions motors in the manualLoSt_AgAiN, Rocks, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this.

Also i do not own this truck and wont be doing any modifications to it n would void my contract and id be out of a job

You can mount a 5gal tank behind the cab to keep kerosene in. Just hsve to know where to buy it when you need it.
2nd best option is to keep running it on reg diesel, then when its warm enough to stop using it, get a 3ish gal can of kerosene, and run it through the system till its out and that should burn off any crap that has collected i the fuel pump and injector tip, so its ready for next season.BryE, FlaSwampRat and WesternPlains Thank this.
