And the money does not come out of my pocket, it comes out of the revenue that the truck makes. I am still paid 30 percent of the linehaul towards my paycheck so i am not paying for truck with my own money or losing it for that matter either

The truck will have a good value though when you own it. Then you do an inframe at 700K or 800K
    OR
trade it in on a used truck like you have now, but then you'll have a nice down payment from it, so you're payments will be a much more reasonable.

This. They are good trucks. A few tweaks and it will be as reliable as an older pre emissions truck. I have the same truck and it has 780k total miles. While it has had an exorbitant amount of $ thrown at it in unneeded repairs because of previous driver abuse and some incorrect diagnosis of issues, its now a rock solid truck.

I dont understand the contract D.Tibbitt has with his carrier, but I dont think its one that benefits him over the carrier.

While a truck is a tool to do a job, I gotta atleast like the vehicle I spend over 100hrs a week in, almost every week, all year long.

Of course it benefits the company . im well aware of it . like i said i wanted the opportunity to LEARN. There is very few oportunities to learn that dont have a price tag associated with it. But at the end of the day my paycheck is serperate from the bills and i get paid as long as the truck is generating revenue. Any maintenance and any bills associated to the truck do not come out of my pocket it comes from the total revenue that the truck makes. If the expenses are more than the revenue they carry over into then next months settlement until they are paid off. There is very few opportunities like that in this business where there is virtually 0 risk on my behalf and the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of this industry. Most lease purchase give u 1k a week truck payment and pay u by the miles and give u 0 experience in the business side as u are still a slave to a dispatcher. This company is not like that. Finding freight is on me. Building relationships with our brokers and agents, finding good freight lanes, paying maintenance and all expenses associated with owning truck it is on me but doesnt come out of MY pocket. It is completely up to me how much this truck makes or doesnt make and i have enjoyed the experience so far even know it is like being thrown into the ocean with no prior knowledge of how to swim. But i can walk away at any time and the company can pull my contract at any time and im aware of that but im glad i took the jump regardless of if i fail or succeed or what anybody thinks about it.

I look at it as you are paying for school. You will get to learn all the ins and outs of running your own business. You get to do this without being bent over at "insert your favorite mega" doing a fleece purchase. I'm glad you are liking it so far. What has been your biggest challenge so far?

I wished someone would post a list of philanthropist trucking companies. The ones that just are there. Not to make a profit, just to be there.

That was my mindset going in and why i decided to do it. The hardest part is learning where the freight is at and learning that going into california or arizona for 2 dollars a mile with a flatbed is a heck of alot different than going into say indiana or illinois for 2 dollars a mile. Very very hard to get out of california or arizona with a flatbed and if u do get out its not going to be a good rate . but i finally made it east of i35 and ifound a broker that has alot of freight out texas running up to midwest paying decent money , if i can find a broker that got loads going to that part of texas i can run that lane nonstop and never be sitting so thats what im working on now. But that is not something i ever had to deal with as a company driver i just went wherever they told me and preffered cross country runs cuz i got paid more but now it is all about money and making sure im going to a place with freight rather than just running miles

Lol I hear they are really hard to get into.

That's what I thought would be the tough part. I'm a total steering wheel holder when it come to that lol. All I know how to do is drive, you tell me to take this load there and when I need to be there and I got ya.... it's about all I'm good for lol.
