Automatics don't know how to tug a stump, trailer tandems or anything with weight gently very slowly. What they end up doing is jiggling then the engine gets confused and you end up either bouncing up and down on your airride a foot like a idiot or you slam back and forth for nothing as the trans drop into N rendering the whole exercise futile.

Automatic u just pull 5th wheel pin and press gas pedal to floor, then stand outside in flipflops and track pants with your hands on ur head looking surprised why ur airlines are ripped out and trailer is dropped on pavement lol some of the new trucks they are not putting airbag switches in them, makes it a real pain dropping trailers. Luckily we dont do any drop n hook so i dont have to worry about itLtlAnonymous, WesternPlains and Rocks Thank this.

I found it easiest to disconnect from the trailer and pull forward a couple of feet so there is no weight binding the 5th wheel and I can see what is going on.
Then release the 5th wheel pins and use a long bar to lever the plate where ever you want it. I used a 4 foot pry bar that I carried to pull nails out of the floor. I imagine a cheater bar would also work.LtlAnonymous, stuckinthemud, Rocks and 2 others Thank this. -
"CLICK ! CLACK ! BANG!! The sound of an auto transmission being put into gear.
Followed by the unmistakable sound of all the #### on ur shelves flying off and into the floor and we havent even made it out of our parking spot yet lolRidgeRunner731, LtlAnonymous, WesternPlains and 3 others Thank this. -
Ohhh noooo....
My last 6 or 7 loads with male dispatcher in my last company were all extra heavy and "problematic"... I got sick and tired of playing with that fifth wheel, and tandems and keeping low fuel in the tanks and doing calculations on top of calculations to know when and where to fuel to avoid being over weight going thru scales.. and worst of it all... most of those loads were going to CA... all were over 1500 mile trips....
The last one that broke my camel's back I was over 81000 lbs and male dispatcher kept telling me that was legal....
I took the load and delivered it fine but it was a real pain all the way from ID to GA or something like that... That was the last load I pulled for that dispatcher...
