There's several states that use the tread width formula.

A good local shop here says neither Husqvarna or Stihl know how to make a good trimmer. I apologize as I forget what he is selling. Says it's good.
He sells everything, brands, mowers, chain saws, trimmers, etc. He's big on Husqvarna and Stihl chain saws.
The opinion here on chansaws. The guys who use them everyday. They don't care if it's a Husqvarna, or a Stihl. They'll use either. Nothing else.
From what I've seen here. You're going great if you love either Stihl or Husqvarna in general.
    Small tractors.... Kubota is it.

I do wonder if the Sideband CB's are worth buying? Any decent talk? Performance? Etc?
I got a little handheld. A CB in the size of a large microphone. Works good. Don't use CB much at all. Too much trash talk.

The last husky saw I acquired is a piece of crap. I bid on it at a silent auction and won, it is a 445 Rancher. Thought it would be a great little saw to pack in my side by side for hunting. I've since found out that husky started making cheap ### saws to sell at box stores and this Rancher is one of those. Nothing like my 25 year old 366 Husky. That saw is dead nuts reliable and tough as nails. I use it for cutting out old lobed planks, and sawing new ones.

I use Stihl. Had a MS6+ large model with about a 26 inch bar and a really good engine. Paid about 640 for it years ago chopped about 6 winters worth of firewood with it out of my land off 90 foot scyamores chopped up and seasoned a year. Good strong wood. That firewood was given strictly to families with children who have nothing in the foothills. So that wood was their hot water, heat, food cooking and everything all winter each time. I think 10 families made it through and improved. I was not alone, many of us did this. Pitch in and haul it to them. Expecting nothing at all in payment other than a smile and maybe a little love on you in form of a drink, coffee or whatever small favor is possible. Some of those are worth a million dollars. Ask for nothing.

Took on a baby oak that was in need of cutting away. Stump was about 6 foot across. Saw whined a little and binded twice but that is also gone.

The one tree I wont dare cut is the walnuts. They say they can make 10,000 dollar tables out of some of them. I had 7 in my time on that land. All of them in place longer than I have been alive.

And I actually liked timbering. It made the body hard and eases the mind in the stress with the relatively physical mindless demand of that work.

I am not sure what you meant by "no APU allowance in IN... You talking about the APU weight exemption?
The last time I checked, there were only 5 states that had no such exemption. Those were
    CA NC RI HI KY
IN allows a 400 lbs exemption.
