I have never got a detention check in my life as a company driver. Havent run into that situation as a contracter yet. I did get paid $500 tonu and $200 tonu for the 2 out of 3 friday loads that cancelled on me in my first 3 weeks with this company. Still sucked cuz i ended up sitting all weekend but it better than nothing . Ever since the holidays is over they been able to keep me running like a drug donkey, i love it

My question wasn't detention. The focus was actually if the pay was built into the load for loading and unloading. I don't think any of you flatbedders are doing that for free. Are you?D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I got $455 once. Vegetable oil load, no room in the tank. Receiver lady gave me her direct line phone #, told me to go to the nearby truckstop and call her at 8am. Called at 8, "not yet", called at 10am, "C'mon down!" 26 hours detention, paid in full without a peep from my company.
The detention paid more than the linehaul. It was a good day.Sirscrapntruckalot, InTooDeep, Cattleman84 and 3 others Thank this. -
I was thinking of where to eat dinner. I honestly don't feel like going anywhere. That's all I do when I'm gone. I might just order pizza.
But then.... I really do need to get my car out of the garage and drive it. It just sits for months.InTooDeep, homeskillet, Rocks and 2 others Thank this. -
I only got paid by the mile so im sure my company was getting paid for it but it didnt get passed down to me unfortunatly. If i was to go back a company driver there is no way id do flatbed and get paid per mile. Only percentage pay. way to much work outside of the truck to be just getting paid per mileInTooDeep, homeskillet, Rocks and 2 others Thank this.

That big amount I got was a bunch of hours loading. Came back the next day, and finally got loaded.
Then they scheduled the delivery wrong by a day.
So the guys like,"How about $500 for the delay at delivery?"
I said that will be fine. I asked him you really think you'll get me all that money?
He says, "I guarantee it."
Once they put it on our FB, we're gonna get that money. Sometimes takes awhile, but Landstar will take them to collection to get that money.RidgeRunner731, InTooDeep, Rocks and 3 others Thank this. -
I wasn't sure on exactly what you did.
Just for discussion. On those load boards. Some of those that pay more per mile. Is is possible that it's because of time it takes to get in/out of shipper and receiver? Detention already built into the per mile?
I'm just wondering.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Oh, ok......"Freight Bill", not "Face Book". Now it makes sense!

I know ive seen a couple brokers that write in the rate con that the rate has everything including line haul, detention, fuel surcharge , tarp pay, etc it is all built into the rate , so it could be possible . To me that just seems like a cheap way out for everybody involved except the carrierRidgeRunner731, WesternPlains and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I did the same thing LOLWesternPlains, homeskillet and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
