Funny I'm about ready to throw a tarp up in Mass. 20 degrees some wind. I chained it already. I'll tarp it, get in side the truck to de thaw, then back out to bungee it.

Near Lubbock I was in a frontal storm that just wont quit, driving a 20 foot high bubble tarp on my covered wagon. The one blessing that it drove all the flies out of the hide load I had on. Those flies could not stay on anything and got stripped by the 50+ sustained and 70+ gusts which passes for a Texas breezy day.

I walked into a little truckstop I think about a hour north of Lubbock, BOUGHT ALL of their little bungees. Thumped it down at the cashier who rolled her eyes and started counting. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...

Put all of them on the truck. Not quite secured. Broke out Mr Twine, 1000 feet roll. Went through every grommit twice tying the bejeezus out of everything. Finally a couple of straps over the top.

It looked like a child's unmade bed because he refuses to do what he is told to make it neat... but it got me through that day.

Oh yes,., never toss the heavy end against the wind direction. It will get over the trailer then come straight back to knock on your head. Maybe need stitches.

Home Depot? Should be an instock price with out the truckstop markup premium.

Yeah, I will probably turn down Bayside transport as I prefer pulling a van. So I can sympathize with skateboard drivers prefering to stick with skateboards.

On a different note. The machine shop called. The crank for the tractor is so badly damaged. #2 journal is 0.038 under sized. Minimum damage is thirty thousandth. So the original crank is only good for a boat anchor (common joke in these parts). Ebay has an American made replacement. $329 and $40 for shipping. When the tax return comes in a few days, the replacement will be ordered. Then the fun begins of trying to put the mechanical puzzle back together. Oh Joy.

I am hoping. I took it apart in stages. The parts were piled in stages. So in order for me to assemble it I have to go through the pile like a loaf of bread. Each part I took off went on to the pile like a slice of bread. The bolts removed were placed in their own magnetic tray.

Besides I always liked doing picture puzzles. This isnt that much worse.

No doubt. Been there, etc. meant the direction. Smooth ride. Rarely do I traverse NE with a tailwind

Make no mistake the gusts at this wind farm is no joke
