I imagine you all are tired of seeing these Carnaval pictures....
But folks here are not.... there are 70 floats in the city of São Paulo today, 19 floats or so in the city of Rio, so many more in the city of Salvador and so on and so forth all over this country...
The year in Brasil doesn't start in January but March...
There's a live show going on the street down here where my hotel is... they closed the street... set tents on an empty lot... the sound is so loud.. sounds as if they were playing on an apartment next door....

Well my home time mission is mostly complete...

So I got this '89 F-250 w/ 7.3 diesel about 3 years ago, I got it and a wood stove in trade for a log splitter I built. Anyway the front end is gearbox is completely out of it, and the rear end gear box has major problems. And a few other minor issues (like needing to start it with a screw driver across the solenoid).

So I been wanting put an entire new rear end in it so I can at least drive it in 2WD to go get firewood. Well its been sitting for 2 years since I opened the rear end to see what was wrong with it... So I had to tighten the inspection cover bolts add oil, reinstall the steering column (from my attempt at fixing the starting issue), air up the flat tire, get it to start, and take it to the mechanic.

I have successfully reinstalled the column, got the tire aired up, rear end buttoned up and oiled (task which involved laying in 2 inches of water), I had it started 2 weeks ago so not too concerned there... Tomorrow morning I will get it started and take it to my mechanic so he can put the new rearend in it.

I was originally going to do it myself, but I just dont have the time to do it... Hence the reason it is still sitting 2 years later. I'm pretty excited to have it drivable... My toyota just cant handle the heavier stuff like getting firewood and the like. And my '72 F-250 has some of its own mechanical issues currently. And the flatbed is a pain when hauling firewood already cut to 16 inches long.

I cant wait to have this '89 fixed up... It will take me at least another year to have enough money to do the front end, but I'm planning to make it a push button start to fix that issue... No key needed.

Needs a new carburetor is the biggest issue it has mechanically... But it also needs 2 of the 3 fuel tanks replaced. And it is a gas hog!!! (Hence the reason my dad installed 2 aftermarket fuel tanks) That is probably the biggest reason I opted to spend more $$$ on the '89, it has enough usable fuel capacity to easily make a run to the hills for wood. And it does much better on fuel.

I eventually want to build 2 Satinles Steel tanks to replace the 2 bad ones on the '72, which are really badly rusted inside. It will plug a fuel filter in 10 mins at an idle if you try to use either of those tanks... And one of those tanks leaks.
