Alas we dont get enough sun. Also the porch isnt insulated. Yet there are times in January we get a mid winter thaw and yes, for a hour or so. We can get some passive heating.

I should point out there are other things we do to conserve on power. The wife likes to use well water on her garden. If there is a heat wave, I can turn some valves and the water goes through a auto radiator. It has a 12 volt fan on it. Our ambient temperature of the ground is 45F. Passing the water through the radiator before watering the garden can cool the home quite nicely for a while. Alas we still need a airconditioner on those sultry nights. No I cant seem to convice the wife her garden needs more water. Yes I did try, numerous times.

Buried tank with a recerc pump to chill the radiator?

Folks up the mountains used to do "Cool Tubes" basically a fresh air intake to the house which was a long culvert buried in the ground and a screen across the opening. Pull all fresh air for the house through the tube. Cool air in the summer time. Air less cold than outside in the winter so less heating for the furnace to get it to temp. They would just open up an attic vent in the summer to push the hot air out. Winter the house would vent via the chimney.

Wife just growled a feral dog NO!!! to that plan as she clutched the container from the fridge......

Oh and less than a quart remains. Down to just a couple of burritos worth now. Will have to do another batch Monday I think.
