Sounds like a return spriing got weak on ya. About $5 for the spring and $200 for the mechanic to finnish his coffee.

In my world. Rod #1 only needed 2 thou on each side and it is perfect. Rod #2 has got 6 thou in it and it still needs more Last measuring it was 0.0015 and now I have used up all the plastigauge. I think some one used it for sword fighting as each time I cut some off it was tiny pieces. Tomorrow is another day. Here is #2 with 6 thou so far. The blemish on the crank is the plastigauge that needs to be cleaned off. Longest piece I find tends to be about a quarter inch.

The black stuff is aviation gasket sealant. When that engine gets the oil pan I can gauranty there will be zero oil seepage.

 

All prepped... Dressing was mixed seperate and spooned onto the top after mixing all other ingredients with hot water. Now to seal it up and get back on the road while it stews.

Have looked at those hot pots. Thought about trying one, just never have. Always wondered how well they worked.
