Stuff like that is why they have Rocky Mountain Doubles. The trailer does not cut the corner. Almost like driving a car.

Speaking of switch backs...it is already June and Werner hasn't shut down Hwy 49 south of Auburn yet. Hmmm....maybe they are actually doing some training. 49 south of Auburn to get over to Cool and Placerville is a shortcut on the map, but it is very well posted as a restricted route....even the lumber trucks won't use it! On the south side of the South fork of the American river there are 3 switch backs trucks cannot do...takes two big rig tows to get the bone head off the road. but Werner is notorius for wanting to take the shortcut!
Did it once bobtail in my W900....never again!

 

Mowing a lawn yesterday and this section of my mower went missing. May have gone missing a couple of days ago as I hadnt noticed. (the verticle pipe welded on some square stock). Well it only had a tiny weld on it and it took 6 years to fall off. I replaced it already and use a 5/32" 6013 for good measure. A 3/8" weld on it. Should outlive the mower now.

 

550 from Durango to Montrose is not a winter use road. Gets closed early and can be for days. Lots of chain zones as well. The avalanches can cause some problems.

What route did you use?

 

l delivered a load to Durango in '75. l was very tempted to quit my truck job on the spot and stay there.
