I'm done with 2020. It's just been a F'n disaster of a year. Just spent a day and a half in and around Augusta Ga and the African dust is real. This year has been disgusting and just plain disappointing. @D.Tibbitt gonna have a #### fit when he comes down here and a giant locust climbs in his truck.

Why-O-Ming had nothing on Utah,Nevada and Aridzona today. The lowest wind speed reading I saw today was 57 mph.

    Funny story for ya OutrrBankets

Back in 94 I had a parasail and Waverunner business I was doing out of Corolla just north of Duck

Everything was conducted in the Sound as the Atlantic was not doable much less the hike down to Oregon Inlet or getting through it most days

But we came back across the Sound every night to sleep on the mainland in my younger brother who worked for me 27’ sailboat he brought up from Florida

The marina we kept his sailboat at was in CoinJock in the Intercoastal across from the Coast Guard station and everyone took to avoid going around Cape Hatteras.

Anyways I had the parssail boat sitting at the boat ramp there one evening with my head buried in the bilge working in a hydraulic problem.

I hear a little commotion going on outside the boat but don’t look up

Next thing I hear this Cammed up motor fire up and seconds later feel my parasail boat get rammed

I crawl out of the bilge and see this Racing Crackerbox which Is a super cool backyard built jonboat out of plywood more or less

Guy in it is falling over me saying how sorry he is about hitting my boat. I say no problem it’s a tool not a boat to me .

So he than says some old timer dropped this boat off at his shop to get it running and he himself knew nothing about boats

Well I looked at the boat and figured out it had no transmission just direct drive And when he started previously the boat rammed into my boat by going backwards We started it and sure enough it wants to go backwards .

He than said I have a pile of props in the back of the truck the old guy gave me.

So I dug through them and found one that was the right rotation and we switched the prop around.

This guy grabs a few beers and asks if I want to go for a ride. I say Duh.

We dropped the little Crackerbox back in the water with both of us guys sitting at the very back of the boat and this hi rise small block Chevy running dry headers in front of us

Start it up and it goes forward. Big Plus.

We go slow for about 15 seconds than he is full bore on racing past the slow no wake zone in front of the Coast Guard station like nothing is going On

We bomb up and down the canal and the marina for about 10 minutes raising hell than pull back in to the ramp to retime the motor and thin the carb up a little bit.

Than my new NC buddy Louis who’s dad owns the marina and I am staying in the sailboat at shows up. This guy and Louis start talking Smack and how Louis bass boat with one bad cylinder could beat the Crackerbox that wasn’t even the guy boat that I’m riding with.

So we grab a few more beers and go tearing it up on the Intercostal for another hour.

Get the boat back on the trailer and than the guy asks what I was working on on my parasail boat sitting there.

Same old hydraulic problems and such.

He than says if you never need hoses in a pinch or need to use a shop stop by and he gives me the address.

Anyways about a month later I stop by the shop and walk in and am greeted by a guy who pretty much asks who the heck I am and what do I want.

I tell him I helped some guy Dennis with a boat he was working on down at the ramp a month ago and he said if I ever needed a shop to stop by .

He than goes OK. Yea Dennis told me about you. No Problem what do you need?

A hydraulic hose cut and crimped and someone that can tig weld a custom winch fitting

    Done.

I never put 2 and 2 together that Dennis owned everything until I got In there and started working and saw the Gravedigger truck in the shop had Dennis Anderson’s name on it.

    Super Nice Guy

    Good Times. Great Memories

Ooops... I'm pretty sure I posted the uncensored version of this earlier. Sorry for that. Here is the censored version.

Hard to blame ya. Between the virus, looting, riots, garage door ropes, African dust storms, and apparently a outbreak of a 17 year brood of Cicada's it's just become exhausting.
Horrible f'ng year. Haven't even made it to hurricane season, or election day where 175 million stupid people vote.
No matter what happens I raise a glass of house whiskey to 2021.

That was back when things were very different. Post- 2000...bleh.

They took a lot of the "charm" of the sandbar and the surrounding area in the name of tourism. Nowhere near as bad as Myrtle Beach, Va Beach, Ocean City etc in terms of build up and...city-ness, Yes I made up a word. ;)

It's still a good place to come unwind, but pre-2000 was even better.

Coinjock is still laid back. They do car shows at Digger's Dungeon.

Whenever you decide to quit soaking up that Florida sun, stop for a visit. Come by boat I'm right near a marina.

Sirscrapntruckalot - I need a boat so I can float my goat. I don't have a goat, but if I had a boat...I'd get one. Screw you PETA..Goats like boats.
