Tho something many people are not aware of? (Grease guns) There is a wonderful adapter for sealed bearings known as a grease needle. You stick this on the one of the gun and puncture the rubber seal. This way the non greaseable bearings can be refilled. It is also good for packing bearings. Slip the needle between the rollers and pump away. No need of the wad of grease on your hand. Unless you like getting that filthy.

I use any available stick or piece of wood directly from the tube. The cans of high temp grease at walmart are like $1.50 more than the tubes. So I'm a tube man. Just remove the plastic end and re-seal.

Friend of mine just squeezed the tube. Once half was out, he'd cut the tube in half and squeeze out the rest. Then he'd just use cardboard or whatever to spread it out.

You can build one really easy... Take an extra grease zerk and drill the ballbout of the tip with a bit just big enough to cover the ball. Then use what ever fitting needed to attach the zerk (tip, drilled out ball will become the nozzle) to the end of grease gun hose. Will squirt kinda like silly string.
