I'm thinking outa DFW I'll be doing linehaul. That's what they're looking for right now. I need chain exp to run the routes Dave's crew runs.LoSt_AgAiN, lovesthedrive, Sirscrapntruckalot and 4 others Thank this.

U got to come out west if u want to chain . East of i35 the only time u throwing chain is if u stuck in the parking lot. It really aint nothing to it tho. U could do it in the parking lot. I think dave just wants u to get some winter driving experience , it takes alot of concentration and patience to run in the winter time and the ability to communicate effictivly with all parties on the load when the roads are just to slickInTooDeep, LoSt_AgAiN, Dave_in_AZ and 5 others Thank this.

All he needs to do it go run over Eisenhower, Donner, or Cabbage in January... And he will get his wish.
@FLtoOKBound trust me when I say it is not fun freezing your ### off while laying in the snow chaining a truck, while stupid 4-wheelers are sliding by at 50+ mph a mear 3 feet away.
But when you stop 25 to 50 miles later and those chains still look tight like this... It does give you a very small moment to smile.

What are you looking for. Not really sure. Didn’t really stop much. More rolling through, heading for pick or drop. Did go into Ketchum and Sun Valley, then it was in and out.InTooDeep, LoSt_AgAiN, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this.

I ran the socks last year . But m gonna run a combination of chains and socks this year... the only bad part about socks is u really cant wear them along time and once u get over 25mph they go flying off the wheel for some reason. But they do the job if u just need to get up and over a mountain with "chain laws" in effectInTooDeep, LoSt_AgAiN, Dave_in_AZ and 4 others Thank this.

Yeah someone didn't like my idea of carrying a pair of 4×4s to roll inside tires on. I might have to get in/out more. But will have tighter chains w/o laying in snow.LoSt_AgAiN, Sirscrapntruckalot, Rideandrepair and 3 others Thank this.

Im just thinking, i wont be able to make it back to missoula from there . If its almost 7 hours one way. Guess ill have to head out i15 and find somethingInTooDeep, LoSt_AgAiN, Dave_in_AZ and 5 others Thank this.

@FLtoOKBound if you really want to get serious winter deiving experience you need to find somewhere that will run you through WY on I-80 all winter long. I would be willing to bet @Dave_in_AZ would maybe give you a shot if you and your truck were both still in one piece come spring.InTooDeep, LoSt_AgAiN, otterinthewater and 7 others Thank this.

There is a big pull out along 26 at craters of the moon. You can park there for the night.
Theres also Jack's Travel Plaza in Arco... Its just a small Conoco station but it has a large dirt lot.Attached Files:
