Just rationalizing. The front pins broke. Also the brackets holding the slide.

Those pins are not solid. They are hollow. Surprised me how light they actually are.
I've repeatedly lubricated slides. Well.... more so with these trailers I work with always. I can't stand that BS of slides not wanting to slide.

So while unloading my first load today, my phone rings and I answer it.

It's the boss. The Big Man. The HMFIC. The Guy Whose Name Is On The Door Of My Volvo. Calling from many states away.

"Skillet", he says, "we have a problem."

(Cue rapid mental video search of any load/unload irregularities, or recent encounters with arshole 4 wheelers. None found)

"Y'know your 4pm load? Well, the guy who has the 2am load forgot his CPAP. Could you deliver yours at 2am instead?"

I didn't want to. I didn't even WANT the 4pm load. I agreed to help my travel agent out with the ONE shorty this morning, and got the other load dumped on me.

I'm thinking to myself, "This sounds like ########. Who the eff leaves the house without their CPAP? I take mine with me anytime I'm leaving the yard, along with sandwich fixings, even if I'm doing a 20 mile round trip. Ssssssshtuff happens!"

The other voice in my head, the steady, reliable one, says:

"Your boss needs you. You ride for the brand, son!"

So I told my boss "Yes, I'll do it."

    He sounded relieved, and thankful.

So why do I still feel like a chump that rolled over?

Anyway, gotta hit the rack. Peace.

    Translation...

Somebody else didn’t feel like working, so now you have to.

Good boy. ... I imagine the problems they run into in the office. Committed to something. Then can't do it? Bail them out.
That doesn't excuse a guy forgetting his CPAP. He should bring his CPAP to the bathroom with him. Just incase.
I never ever forget my CPAP. I don't have a CPAP. So I never forget it. :laughing-guffaw:

I remember my favorite Manager/Dispatch saying to me: "Can you do me a favor?" ... How could I say anything else but.... yes.

You're probably right. Ever notice? On Holidays? How some people always have someone in the family die?

And God forbid the “go-to guy” decide he’s had enough of being taken advantage of. Now he becomes what the other unreliable POS already should have, the bad guy.

Still shouldn't have come off the slide. ... well .... Unless it's a Swift trailer. Might not have brackets holding the slides together. :laughing-guffaw:

Don't forget mustard. We left without mustard once. The horror.
