    Petrichor-

    But moments before a rainevent, an “earthy” smell known as petrichor does permeate the air. People call it musky, fresh – generally pleasant. This smell actually comes from the moistening of the ground. ... A byproduct of their activity is an organic compound called geosmin which contributes to the petrichor scent.

    The fresh smell during and immediately after a rain is ozone. So open the windows up when it’s raining, if you can, and immediately after it stops. Freshens everything up. Same way, a ozone machine does.
