Don't take it lightly, but don't be scared either. Also, practice chaining now if you run areas that you may have need of them. This serves 2 purposes (1) you learn before you're in a bad spot, and (2) you can make sure you don't have any broken links in your chains. @otherhalftw has a great video you can learn from.

Given that I will be starting in Canada, i dare say that i will be doing routes that need chains.

Too fast and too close, usually the case. I let them go around me, and keep my distance. I don’t know why they need to hold hands. One mistake, and 4 or 5 are tangled up.

4-5 if you're lucky. I was on 80 during that major pileup several years ago, perfect mix of bad road, overspeed, and poor visibility.

I always got a kick out of the CB Driving instructors. Gas on it!! Come on out of there!! Bring it back!! Especially down south. Some of the Drivers would get pretty excited about Driving a Truck. Like it was NASCAR or something. I think it used to be worse. Don’t know, haven’t ran a CB in 10 yrs.

Sometimes it’s unavoidable, my worst times, have been in snow squalls, white outs. That’s scary, can’t slow much, might get hit, don’t know if anyone’s stopping in front. Seconds seem like minutes.

Fortunately neither my guys or I are in any videos. We had ran over to Grand Junction and were coming back on 80 because company policy was that 70 was too dangerous and off limits. 1 guy did drive off into the median but so slowly nothing was damaged (well no more than oilfield trucks normally are:confused:)

I have no desire to run west in the winter. Worst road I’m on regularly, in winter. is 64, between Cincinnati and Louisville. Only 100 miles, with a few tricky spots. That’s enough. Pennsylvania’s probably the worst I’ve seen. I try to avoid it completely. Eventually, I’m going to head out west, across 80, and drop down, avoiding California and through Arizona, maybe back across Texas. Just to see the sights. But it will definitely wont be in winter.
