Interesting thing happened to me yesterday....
As you all know. I have a lower back injury. It causes much pain in my legs. Got no help from Doctors. Been going back and forth with it. At first it was constant debilitating pain all the time. Now I can sit and drive just fine. But driving hasn't helped much. I think part of the problem is nerves. Part is circulation.
Well... We did a delivery yesterday here in town. It was some equipment for a Veterinarian. Boss said I don't have to help. I did my job...driving the truck. I was there. I helped when I could. There was one piece that was heavy. Carried it with another guy.
I was amazed. My legs and lower back suddenly felt good. It felt soothing to carry that.
I can only rationalize. That accident loosened my lower spine. All my life I had been rather heavy. Ran first marathon at 210 pounds. With training. That's a whole lotta compressing the spine. I've been 265 pounds of muscle before. Anyways.... I'm thinking that my lower back had developed to handle the weight. The compression. The accident loosened it. That is where I'm getting the pain from.
I now have a reference point to work on to rehabilitate that injury. Need to get focused.
What if it Snows?

All the Doctors wanted to do is give me toxins for Cholesterol and Blood Pressure. Along with pain pills. Which resulted in a mild heart attack. ... When I went to both of them because of pain in my legs. They would say: Oh... we'll worry about the legs later. .... All they were worried about was their plan to make money off me.
EDIT: and yes....I asked for something to try to look at my lower back area. See what had happend. Why was this pain. An MRI? I was interested in finding out just what happened. They just ignored me.
And any of you people wonder why I don't like Medicine Men? I have experience.
I went to a chiropractor. He did help. But i need permanent fix.
I know there are things like "Farmers Walks". Pick up very heavy weights. Walk with them.
I had to do a whole bunch on my own to rehabilitate from almost dying from diabetes. That episode left me an absolute basket case. I learned much. Have learned more.
Scott Sonnon's dynamic stretching is very smart. It will heal things permanently that a chiropractor straightens out... temporarily.
I admit... I had gotten to the point of giving up on much of what I knew. I was in constant pain. Just wanting to let it heal.
Driving a truck went contrary to my health plan. I admit. I never wanted to drive a truck. I just don't fit in with the fighting in a work environment. Either join in the fight. Or you're leaving. One way or the other. This is how Driving has worked out for me. Stay away from that.
Now I have a situation. I get home much. I'm not in a truck for 3 months at a time. I can address things better. Different than working a physical job and not driving. But I can deal with it.Dale thompson, Rideandrepair, Dave_in_AZ and 3 others Thank this. -
Back pain can be caused by many things. Old shoes is a common cause of back pain. Too soft bedding is another cause. The chair that you use to drive the truck will also cause pain. As I said, many things will cause your back to have issues. Having your wallet in the back pocket can be the worst thing ever.
Good things to do for the back. If you dont have bad knees, deep knee squats. If your standing in line, squat down so your sitting on your ankles. Touching your toes for a minute (with out standing back up, bend and stay bent for the minute) is another good one. The idea is that the flexing at your hips stretches the back muscles.
I too suffer from back pains. Many times changing something simplle will be the most effective way to relieve back strain.Rideandrepair, LoSt_AgAiN, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this. -

The accident I had. It resulted in constant debilitating pain for 6 months. I was even in pain when I slept. I and only I was able to work out of that.
On the keeping three points of contact when getting out of a truck. My accident was because my right foot was less than one inch from the ground on ice. I goofed up and let go my hands. My left foot flew out from under me. ..... Don't let go of those contact points until the right foot is completely on the ground. .... The three points of contact has much meaning to me.
I was very good at falling on ice. I fell all the time. Those idiot snow people love to plow snow around trash dumpsters. I'd fallen as much as 8 times in one day. But this one time.... My back twisted when I grabbed the handhold on the truck. Like a whip.Rideandrepair, LoSt_AgAiN and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
The OM is awake, and feels that myself, and everyone else should also be awake, and get moving.
