That going on the road with you?

 

Well the new job was interesting at best. 70 hour work week with only 24 hours off. Pretrip inspections? Only if they got pulled over. Class C (4 wheeler license holders) allowed to drive trucks at 36,000# gross. Some drivers were driving 15 hour days. No logging of any sort. Trucks need alignments as the drivers fight to keep them on the road. Only 8 hours till expected back on duty

Yeah I will pass on working there thankyou.

 

Conversation at the fuel island:

Driver for a mega ( red truck, big K on it)
K Driver; Hey is 70 closed?
Me; yes it is, At Glenwood.
K Driver; Do you know when it will open?
Me; Not for some time, been closed almost a week so far.
K Driver; so it’s not going to open today?
Me; no, probably not for quite a while.
Me; where are you headed to?
K Driver; Littleton, CO.
Me; OK, where did you load at?
K Driver Oakland, CA.
Me; wow, didn’t you see any of the signs that said the road was closed?
K Driver; Blank stares.
Me; guess your taking the long way around.
K Driver; that’s ummm 50 and 283 or something.
Me; yep, 50 down to 285, gonna add three hours to your trip. Good luck.
K Driver; Uhhh any places to stop on that way?
Me; like truck stops, not really, there will be rest areas and pull offs.
K Driver; ummm, ok, well thanks.
