    Speaking of blazes and accidents......

Some dude in a white 7 something Volvo BURST INTO FLAMES yesterday.

When I went by him, about 2/3 of his engine compartment was fully engulfed, starting on the firewall.

Flames about to the top of the windshield. Ferocious kind of flames.

He had the hood open. Hard to say what did it, but I'm going with hot fuel sprayed on hot engine.

Not sure if it was the fires and smoke out west that started me paying attention to this. I go to a lot of places that deal with farm, ranch equipment as well as animals of various types. These are some dusty places. I have a few different masks, disposable type you get for painting. I have been thinking about a real respirator type mask the last few days. Wonder if people would find it a bit much.

On another subject that also has me wondering,
Baby wipes. I keep a few packs on the truck for quick wipe downs after a delivery, kind of get sweaty and dusty. So a quick clean up before next delivery.
These things are scary! They can clean stuff that until I tried it would not have believed. They will clean grease, coffee stains even wiped the dash.
    Get it clean.

    HAH! TOO LATE!

Blasted into Chi-town like a big, fat haboob, (or derecho, or tornado, or whatever) got loaded in record time (even tho I was late due to no fault of my own), and shagged ### eb until I'd had enough. Prolly coulda made it to Toledo, but this service plaza on the ITR just had too much swell parking to pass it by.

Of course, Sbarro was closed.....but I had Ham-n-Cheese à la Volvo.

Friday AM drop in Rensselaer, NY.

    G'nite!

Another cause of that is turbo lube oil line rupture spraying onto the hot, hot turbo housing.

Without a HUGE CO2 extinguisher deployed within seconds, or a remote engine compartment extinguisher, or a large quantity of AFFF, .........

.......you might as well just break out the hot dogs and marshmallows.

Baby wipes are a must have essential in my truck. They clean everything... I think they must be infused with Mommas spit!!!

No outlaw #### today... Logged it as it happened and it worked out just as it would on ELD. Pulled into the yard just as my 11 expired. But I was sweating if my 14 might get the best of me while I was waiting to get unloaded in Ogden, UT... However they got me empty with enough time left on my 14 to make it home, and still had 30 mins to spare. Ive made this exact same day on ELDs many times and I usually have less than 5 mins on my 11 when I pull into the yard. 710 miles from Sidney, NE to Ogden, UT to Idahofalls, ID.
