Well the excrement is in the fan. I went to test the engine by rotating the flywheel. Not good, the engine rotates from 0 to about 130 degrees and stops (interference engine). Now to buy another paper timing cover gasket and actually time the engine. I thought it hadnt been rotated out of time. Alas it has. So much for getting it going next week.
Tho the wife will appreciate this as I was telling her I would need her help. Now if only I had a table that I could set a 900# perkins engine on. Instead it will dangle in the air from the floor crane. The flywheel is on so timing it will be easier (timing mark is on the flywheel). Sigh
