    I'm starting to see the red hot rates cooling off just a little here on the west coast. It generally starts here and works its way east, so run those hot loads while you can and save up for the inevitable slow period that will eventually come.

    I don't do power only loads, but I noticed quite a few yesterday trying to bring empties from the east to the west coast. They were only offering between .50 cents and a buck per mile. I have no idea who can afford to haul that cheap, but I guess there are drivers out there who will do it, even now when things are pretty good.

    Many times they do not care if you load freight on the trailer between the 2 spots. Say you grab a trailer in Indy heading for L.A.. Snag a load out of greater Saint Louis metro that dumps in PHX that pays o.k. (but the extra 0.50 per mile from the trailer makes it all right) Then off the empty in L.A.

    Yeah, it's money to get from point A to point B. But you can't make a habit of those rates.
