Data security breach and the WA State Employment Security Department
It has come to our attention that The Office of the Washington State Auditor (SAO) recently had a data breach with the file transfer service Accellion. The stolen data files contained personal information of Washington state residents who filed unemployment insurance claims in 2020.

However, if you had filed for unemployment with the Employment Security Department (ESD) in 2020 or shared confidential information with the Office of the Washington State Auditor, you may be affected by the breach. SAO is currently in the process of arranging resources to help affected individuals to take measures to protect their identity.
