Yeah depending on where you start, where you load, and where you leave Ag. Exempt radius... all in relation to each other.

My all time best day was 992 miles, all legal and on elogs. I started empty in Idahofalls, ID and Ag. Exempted to Rupert, ID (approx 130 miles) to load. Then I Ag. Exempted to the ID/WY state line on US 30 (approx 165 miles), started my clocks and made it to Elm Creek, NE (approx 695 miles). I did sleep for 1.5 hours while loading, and also stopped in Laramie for a 2 hour nap as well.

The key to remember is that the 150 mile radius is centered over the first loading location for a given load. ANY time inside that radius is Exempt and thus Off Duty. So if you are dead heading to the load, as soon as you enter that radius you can go Off Duty and remain so until you leave the radius (or unload, which ever comes first). This even includes fueling, pre-trip, and even DOT inspections... But it is wise to flag anything that would normally be considered On Duty, so it can be proven during an inspection if necessary.

Yeah some loads are just a big Pain in the rear.. I have had straps get cut underneath a tarp job and have to undo the whole tarp , restrap and retarp. I figure sometimes its best to take however much time it takes to do it right rather than regret it when its falling off the trailer or coming thru the back of the sleeper

. You would be guessing wrong I need to stop every 2 to 3 hours or I stiffen up. I just try to keep the stops short 4 to 8 minutes and yes sometimes I pass the same truck 3 or 4 times. The days of 5 or 6 hours in the seat are waaay back in the mirror. Health concerns trump fuel mileage. Old guy operating style is blister the asphalt when possible and stop often.
