    I understand your thoughts, And my noggin "just aint right" according to several southern bell types......

    Unfortunately I was passed a genetic dislike of horses from my paternal grandfather. He hated horses so much that he became a mechanic/machinist so he could drive horses from society with tractors, cars, and motorcycles in the WWI era and later.

    some of those are chemically treated, Not sure I would want to burn them in living space.

    Now junk mail logs may be an alternative.... Just have to watch the plastic content.

    Some are chemically treated, usually painted as well. Most now are heat treated. Not supposed to use chemicals if it may contact food or is for export.

    Of course these guys are in town (about a mile and a half to them from my place) and they have a public accessible scrap bin.

    At least the cascadia is harder to spot, since it doesn't roll coal and leave a trail in the sky
