They only qualify for handicap plates if they have a physical reason. It can be heart problems or some other silent disability (you can't see it)

We have a driver who is deaf. They have accommodations in their truck for it. They also have a card that they carry that lets shippers know.

Back in the early 90’s, The San Francisco area was having a real problem with deaf gangs. They were really going after people.

Back in the 80s, the lady that lived behind me said my dog had gotten in her yard and chased her dog. Over a 6 ft secure fence. She told me she was legally blind and was afraid to confront my dog. Told her yeah, yeah, then she turned around and walked out to her car. And got in behind the wheel and drove off. Legally blind.

My wife is disabled and we have them on one of our cars. A one of those things you can hang from the mirror in the other one. She never drives if I'm with her, but you sure will never have to worry about her getting in your way and slowing you down. Definitely has a lead foot.

We are currently loading the dry stores in Blackie. In 59 more minutes, we will be safe to drive another 70 hours in the next 8 days.

Legally blind doesnt mean the person cant see. It can mean the person cant see correctly at night and can only drive during the day time. Yes, I will admit, it is a very strange time we live in where things are no longer black and white. Now it is a million shades of grey.

They are only SUPPOSED to qualify under certain conditions for plates/ hangers. The truth is thousands of people who don't need them have them. My incident ended with her being barred from the business I was delivering to, and her arrest after she attempted to run me over.

There is a very fine line between "legally blind" and really totally blind as we think of it in driving capability. Can't define it's parameters to you, but next time/if you need glasses, ask your optometrist. I know people who qualify for
that status, but get around and do the things I do regularly with my glasses.
