The Fisher stove I have has a slightly larger fire box, and can handle wood up to 22" long. And it has the capability roast folks out of the house if you're not careful.

I remember one night shortly after my wife moved in with me... It was -13° outside, with windchill its was closer to -25°. We lived in an old run down trailer house that the wind would literally blow in one side and out the other.

My wife said it was "a little chilly" and asked me to poke some more wood in the fire. I told her "Ya know, once I put it in... I cant take it out."

But she insisted. So I poked a couple more pieces in the stove and opened the drafts another half turn... 40 mins later she was standing in the front door with it wide open, letting that bitterly cold north wind blow over her and into the house, it was 95° in the living room. She has never complained about it being "a little chilly" since, she just gets a blanket... LOL

The Hurricane on the other had can only handle wood up to 18" long, and doesnt pump out quite as much heat as the Fisher. But our new house is insulated very well and it easily keeps most of the house comfortable.

Good on the new house. Was getting down to here to inquire on how it held heat. Sound like it is turning out good.

I'd call BS on pretty much anybody that says they don't do it I'm guilty also, but the ability to cook was beat into me as an essential skill. That started with fresh meats and veggies.

Same here. Raised by my Grandma, her goal was to teach me, in her words, so I won’t need a woman to take care of me, like my Daddy! I can sew by hand pretty good too, Lol.

My thought on "Old Yellowstone". Got a 5th at the fork of 82 and 65 at Lake Village, AR once.
MS dry state then, so legal and bonded. Came EB on in to Columbus; parked, went behind the trailer, took a slug, gulped, and broke the bottle. Bad would not describe it. Tempted to try "Cascade".

Warranty covered it.. would’ve been a little over $7100.
