Would this be upgraded to 1st Class if I mentioned that I ran 901 miles that night????

The last four panhandlers to "put the bite" on me at a truck stop all claimed to be vets.

It's kinda starting to get on my nerves.

A 20-ish looking kid was collecting for "Vietnam Veterans" at the Love's in Jackson, TN. I almost went off on him, but quickly decided "What's the point?"

When I came back out, he was still there, but accompanied by a guy who looked old enough to be a Vietnam vet. Had the ball cap that said so. Of course, anyone can get a Vietnam vet hat and a plastic bucket.

Then, when I was driving out, I saw a step-van with "Vietnam Veterans of America" painted on both sides. I've heard of VVA, I believe them to be legit, but.......two guys collecting money by the door isn't gonna pry open my wallet.

TBH I don't know what will any more.....

Sorry, it just touched a sore nerve I've been nursing a couple weeks. There were a few more incidents, but I'll save them for later, if at all.

I, too, am a vet, "Cold War-era". I'm proud to have served, but the "diefying" of vets over the last few years makes me uncomfortable.

A person "Thanked me for my service" once, and I told them, "I didn't do it for YOU; I did it for ME. I was the stereotypical 'young man without a plan'".

They looked so confused and horrified by my reply, now I just nod and mumble'welcome'..........

    Rant over.

Also, I know the correct word to use is "deification", but its similarity to "defecation" when in print made me change it. Apologies to the resident "grammar foamers".......

Now the dude that want(ed) to buy Casper wants me to take it to Freightliner and let them tear Casper apart.

The OM is still laughing uncontrollably.

Casper is still for sale. I'm still waiting for the Title anyway. Once it comes I'll put him in the truck paper.

Wait, Your going to put the dude in the truck paper? Ayuh, one of those days..............

Worked on the tractor. Started it and found the leak isnt from the rear main seal. Instead it appears to be coming from the valve cover. Granted I have to remove the fuel tank to find out why the new gasket failed.

Honestly I'm not real keen on selling him to someone like that last guy anyway. Casper is a really good truck. In the hands of someone experienced, older, he'll last a long time. In the hands of a tard, he'll be turned to junk.

Not really, depending on where you’re going in NJ. Southern has plenty of fuel stops. Cheaper too. Major oil/gas/diesel supplies in NJ.
