I despise I-70. All of it. One of the most beat roads. Always under construction, and never gets repaired.

News travels slowly in these partslovesthedrive, Cattleman84, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this.

That makes more sense than what I was coming up with, in terms of location. There's a FORTUNE in scrap metal right next to the freeway...for any enterprising souls.lovesthedrive, Cattleman84 and x1Heavy Thank this.

Think of the cost to take possession of all that leased equipment. The scrap value would get eaten up doing the paperwork, paying someone to cut it up, load it, and then the truckers to haul it away.
If it was a money maker the railroad would have already done it.lovesthedrive and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Not zuccuni breadCattleman84 and Lepton1 Thank this.

You are on to something there. There's a place I know where a flatbed driver can get some real nice chain, because the railroad is scrapping it. You need clearance and a reason to be on a military base though.lovesthedrive Thanks this.

Just looked it up, Scrap steel is in the neighborhood of $100 per ton so a 20 ton load (40,000 pounds) will get you a $2k check.
Not sure where the closest large processor is but would you be money ahead by the time you pay to process it/cut it up, load it, and do a round trip?Lepton1 Thanks this.
