Most driver today probably don't remember the floor mount dimmer switches....... Or a clutch for that matter

One of my most confusing days driving cars was when I ran my sedan over to the parents to do some work. Column shift auto.
Hopped in my 50 Plymouth to go get a part. 3 on the tree.
Dad needed something heavy from the hardware store. Granny 4 on the floor.
Dad and I both needed something small from the hardware store. Took moms car to "Blow the carbon Out". Floor shift auto.

Hopped back in my daily driver sedan and had to take inventory of shifter and clutches to figure out how to drive the thing.

Had the floor starter on my model T I resurected from a pile of rust. Tho what was a real blast was having ghost starts from just turning on the ignition switch. On a model T, the ignition coil is creating spark when ever the coil is grounded through the commutator (a distributor the a bearing that creates ground). If the cylinder has fuel and is just past dead center when shut off, it will start with out the starter (ghost start), G13Tomcat, homeskillet, okiedokie and 5 others Thank this.

A floor dimmer makes a good kill switch. Mounted up high under carpet. I’ve known a few Guys that would chain their car up to a tree on the front lawn. Detroit’s still the stolen car capital. A neighbor had a pristine 69 Roadrunner. No.1 car, in 1982. Someone stole it, drove it through the garage door. What a waste, Last month they caught a Car hauler, with 9 cars, unloading at a Chop Shop. I seriously doubt anyone would steal my 03 Jeep. Lol. They made 5 million of them. Junkyard’s full of them, parts are cheap. Anyone steals any of my cars, or my Semi, I’m going to dinner or a few cups, make sure they have enough time to get away.

Hurrah! My pickup will be drivable tomorrow! Just needs a solenoid pack. Under $800 total cost.
