You are stealing our weather. We want our r word (tain) back and we want it now.

 

I am in no way a moderator (have to say this as some moderator got their panties torn because they thought I was acting like one). I am merely giving you an eduacated guess. The moderators / admin wont lock a thread as this is a forum and some one in the future will try to post something constructive as a response.

That being said. What may be needed especially on threads older than a year. Posters might need a popup that pauses their ability to post stating something along the lines of "Posting a response may not have the desired effect you hope to achieve. This thread is an archive and members posting here may have moved on. As well as may not be able to see your response vecause of life"
