I'm off the road for a few weeks due to an accident (non-driving) on personal time that landed me in the ER... Anyone know what I80 through WY and NE has been like or is projected to be like.

I was burning my garbage, I usually use diesel + motor oil, but had some old gas that I didnt want to waste (very stupid of me). Well the short of it is that the wind gusted at exactly the wrong time and blew gas and flames back into my face, lighting me on fire. It took about a second to comprehend what was happening before I set the jug down and started rolling on the ground, and tearing off my 65% polyester snap up shirt.

My face has some bad 1st degree burns (like a really really bad sunburn) and a very small spot of 2nd degree. When I jumped back, from the flaming gas coming at my face, I sloshed gas on my right hand. It has bad 2nd degree and a spot of 3rd degree (size of a quarter). My right bicep has bad 2nd degree, and a spot of 3rd degree (size of a half dollar coin). The right side of my chest has large area of 1st and 2nd degree, and several very small spots of 3rd degree (dime sized and smaller) burns.

The whole ordeal from the time the wind gusted, until I was fully extinguished was about 10 seconds, 15 seconds max. I then walked up to the front door and got my wife to drive me the 15 mins into town to the ER. I was released about 2 hours later to go home. Ive been seeing the Burn Doctor every 3 or 4 days since (about 1.5 weeks so far).

I got very lucky considering the circumstances. My eyeglasses very likely saved my left eye, and my hat saved most my head and hair. My beard and mustache took a fatal hit, but likely provided a buffer until the gas could burn off so the burns on my face are limited to a strip between my cheek-bone and where my hat comes down to.

I'm always very careful when using accelerants, especially gasoline, and have lots of experience with both diesel and gasoline... But it still got me very badly this time. When I got home fron the ER, I immediately went and disposed of the old gas... No more gasoline fires for me.

Spoiler contains pics of burns from the day after it happened, but before the I could get into the burn doctor. View at your own discretion.

No more burning trash either. It's time to start recycling.
