I live near a Dry Indian Reservation... There is a large Casino/hotel there. I happened upon the reviews for that hotel one time... One was a lady from out of state that was upset that they told her ahe could not have any alcohol in her room... Something to the effect of "Its no ones business if I have alcohol in my room for a night cap."... I had to laugh she might have reconsidered that point of view if she had been caught, arrested, and put into a reservation jail cell. Guess she didnt understand that it wasn't hotel policy, but federal law.

I stopped to eat, just north of Tupelo. Sitting there with family and friends was a Constable. I asked, what exactly is a Constable? He explained, basically a Court Cop. Also said he could pull people over. He mentioned it being a dry County. He has authority to pull vehicles over. No alcohol allowed in vehicles, period. I asked about alcohol in a home. Nope it’s illegal to drink. I said, “people are going to do what people do”. He said, yeah, well they better not let me catch them. Lol. I sat there wondering about all the Big talk about Freedom I often hear from family and friends in Mississippi. Decided I better be quiet, and finish my meal. I was obviously aggravating him. I know better not to cross the superficial line of politeness. It’s a fine line, sometimes. I like northern Ms.The people are friendly, as long as you are too. Lol.

Out there on the highway to Jackson? Used to go out there every year to get corn when I lived out there. Best corn I've ever had.

We have dry couties here in Arkansas and we live in one. But it's legal to possess and drink. They just don't sell it. They do have a few private clubs (bars) that really aren't so private like one of the VFWs nearby. Many people around here wound like to go wet and collect the taxes here, but between the alcohol interests in the closeby counties that are open and the Baptists, it's not going to happen anytime soon. In the meantime, we go past liquor stores when going to Texarkana or when going fishing so it's no big deal here.
