I’ve done got up, fixed breakfast like 3.5 hours ago.
Teenager gets up, wants to know what’s for breakfast, when I informed breakfast was over, that’s what happens when you get up at the crack of noon, I got this deer in headlights look.
Even back in the day when I was a kid, staying up til midnight-0100 playing...Ok I’ll say it Atari..then being up at 0500 to catch the bus at 0545.
I didn’t sleep in class or stay in bed all day.
He didn’t like hearing, “There’s bologna, ramen, or Frosted Flakes in there, it’s fix your own, eggs if you know how to cook, or just put in a bowl, stir up, lil pepper/milk and microwave scramble.
That’s another thing, I could cook my own food as a teenager too.

Similar story..At 16 I was opening the gate and working the auction ring at the sale barn, Friday from 1 PM till all checked and penned up. Then loaded an old 470 GMC (air over hydraulic) pulling a 30 ft single axle (straight air) and lit out to Indianapolis, IN. Unloaded Sat noonish, slept over, loaded ear corn back on Sunday AM and back home Sun nite -12 /Mon -1. Caught school bus at 7 and repeated junior and senior years. I got $10 from sale barn and $25 for the trucking. 16 years old, making $35 a week when a grown man with family was making $40 a week at $1.00 per hour. Different times.

Before anyone comes on with the age/license shots..I had MS Chauffer's license at 15, the then commercial license. Dad had died with cancer, mother had to sign for me to get the Chauffer's and I took the driving test in a KB5 International with 18 foot cattle rack. License# 62710. When computers came in,
the state stuck a 9000 in front to make the numbers work, so now 900062710. Grandfathered in to CDL by doing the written portions. lost it to a DOT physical on 9/3/2011 due to "erratic heart beat". 4 bypasses corrected the problem, but an "extrusion" of ? centimeters on my Aorta is not acceptable to DOT doctors.
All good. Made me what I am today... An old broken down rascal living large in a retirement community, adequate finances to outlast my life expectancy, and feeling for todays drivers. Most of them will never enjoy the times the "old guys" had on those roads.
