Larry next door is an insufferable, bad mannered nome and I don't trust him with your stuff.
Choice 'B' was my best buddy Byrd. He has a car shop and does pretty good work, but he's not a detail kinda guy.....plus he drinks too much.

Here's what you got.....
Lid
Horns for the handle. I think if you band saw cut it at the black mark, it will work just right.
Smoker thermometer. Gonna need to drill a big hole for that. You'll figure it out when you get it.
Hardware for the handle. If you don't understand how it works, buy something else.
But, basically, drill a hole just big enough for the brass piece. Then thread the brass piece into the hole. Now you have something to put your screws in. The screws are too long. So trim them off first.
