Same here, Vicksburg and New Orleans. 3 Uncles, Captains. 3 others Deck hands. One Cousin left on the river. Captain. Been on the river at night with my Uncle. Fog so thick, 0 visibility. 14 yrs old, Smoked some wacky Tobacky with the Deck Hands. One look at me, and spent the whole night being Lectured by my Uncle. Real Buzzkill. Never told my Mom though. He started out running a passenger Ferry when He was 15 yrs old. Retired now. Other Uncle just retired, he was running a 3 story Tug from New Orleans to Birmingham, Load of Caustic, once a week. His Sons the only one Left. Good Times on the river.
