    Think of setting up off the grid retirement. Somewhere I can hunt. As well as raise livestock and a garden or greenhouse.

    I want a place I can have a well. That also has greenery.

    It's nice in the hot summer months as it's arid and there is always wind to keep you cool. That wind is a royal PITA in the winter.

    . Nay nay on that recommendation the U.P. Has long brutal winters. Sparsely populated good hunting but the other things wt wants are not there.

    Southern Maine the winters arent as long. Plenty of hunting. You can still get land of 20+ acres. You will need it for hunting. Our winters are generally Some of November to April. If you want a longer spring you will need to get below southern edge of New Hampshire border. Massachussetts still has land in the western end. Their winters end in March. Tho the residents call that state Taxachusetts. Pennsylvania is another good place for hunting.
