Don't think any of the administrations since the early '80s would have the fortitude it takes to play that card.

In this case I would put it as port management not making a good business decision.

Start a night shift, give the union first shot at filling it. If they can't or wont, short term contract it out.

It's a management issue not a worker issue.

A year or two ago, in the time Before All The Fun Was Cancelled, I found out that Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band were on their farewell tour.

I've wanted to see Seger live since I was in junior high. It morphed into a "bucket list" item.

So I asked Missus Skillet if she wanted to go. She said she's not a huge fan of his, but was up for an activity.

I asked my son, he said "Bob WHO?"

So, the Missus and I went, and we had a good time, and I'm glad we did it.

However, I think my "arena concert" days are pretty much over.

I brought earplugs, and I got a headache from the second hand dope smoke, and I narrowly escaped my biggest fear; having a beer spilled on me.

If the port makes $500 a day it's a win for the port.

They have no incentive to work fast. They work slow more container fees. The workers get more OT at union scale. So company and worker wins by being slow.

I have heard that going to concerts can be bad. As there are druggies out there running around with water guns loaded with LSD. Spray the crowd instant sales.

Mine were over about 15 years ago. Went and saw Slayer and Marylin Manson in San Antone. MM puts on a good show
Slayer was way too loud. I said that’s it I’m done.

That's $500 per day fee is a special case for class 1 placarded loads. Not enough of them to matter in the grand scheme of things.

The fee goes to management would not be enough to trickle down to the workers.

That’s funny, First and last concert I ever saw, was Bob Seger. It was amazingly good, after all those years. My wife and daughter bought the tickets as a Christmas present. It was her first Concert. We had a great time. I noted we should do this more often. Hadn’t been to a concert since the 80s. Can’t believe it’s been about 17 yrs ago. I think I’ll stick with the smaller venues. Still want to see Foreigner/Stix at one of the Casinos. If they’re still doing those gigs. I regret not seeing Waylon the last time he played at a Casino up north.

Skibike also. They have a club at the resort I coach at. There're a few different types. Stand up, sit down, 2 ski & 3 ski. Looks kind of fun till it isn't.
