Hang around plains long enough and you will see it :biggrin_25523: that scale is my nemesis and is to be avoided at all costs

Out here there is very little contact between port employees other than over the radio unless they are office staff or the folks working chassis inspection or out gate container inspection (easy to avoid the trucker). Immunization status should not be a problem other than those that use the break room.

Seattle ports are a freeking joke. There is literally not enough land around them to support the influx of trucks of T30. My opinion is they should put all the containers on trains and ship them to a yard better able to process trucks. (think Ellensburg, over the mountain but on the rail line). Longbeach should do the same thing, trains to that eastern suburbs of LA (think Phoenix, would get nearly all the port trucks off the highways to alleviate some congestion and cut back on emissions in the basin). T18 Seattle handled this truck crunch by requiring appointments. Unfortunately T18 are the ones that take 2 weeks to unload and release the cargo from a ship.

The problem I see is the people that run the ports can't or wont take long term (or short term) action to improve the ports to meet business needs. They get hung up giving hand jobs to the Union and Government officials rather than running the port like an essential business. It may be time to nationalize them under a branch of the military like they did the auto makers in WWII. I'm thinking Army engineers, Sea Bee's, or a combination of like minded groups.

This may actually be the solution. What with all the troops that came home from Afganistan. There should be a surplus of personel able to handle the logistics. This is after all why the branches of the military have the "Reservists and National Guard"
